Jacobean Leaf Study in blue & Gold
ClassDescription: This beautiful leaf design was inspired by one found in an antique embroidery book. Similar designs would have adorned bed hangings during the English restoration period. The blue and gold palette is authentic to the period and inspired after pieces such as Abigaile Pett’s bedhangings in the V & A collection. I have redesigned the leaf taking account of new trends that have developed in crewel techniques. The scrolling leaf has been worked using traditional crewel techniques that have been tweaked to incorporate modern ideas about crewel work. Stitched using DMC thread on a gorgeous cotton brocade fabric that adds another layer of dimension to the final result. The instructions include full diagrams for the 21 crewel stitches that it uses..
Kit Includes: white cotton brocade fabric, white cotton fabric for backing, DMC threads, size 10 crewel needle, size 26 tapestry needle.
