The Queen's Needlecase
This needlecase was the joint inspiration of Cynthia Jackson of Gutter Lane Embroidery & Mike Parr. Working together, they have created their own idea of what a needlecase used by Queen Marie Antoinette might have appeared like. The cover is a fantasy of fleur de lys entwined with hearts done in goldwork with crystal & bead embellishment. The back of the case is a recreation of the Queen’s insignia worked in tiny Swarovski crystals. The interior uses ribbon & lace appliqué with bullion knot roses and embroidered additions to the vintage lace. The case is finished with a magnetic closure for ease of use. Threads used are Soie de Paris, Pipers Silk Floss, Gilt Super Pearl Purl, Gilt Bright Check and Gloriana Silk Ribbons. An option for personalizing the Insignia using the Swarovski Crystals will be available.
